ROEL decided to invest in the new showroom to give customers in Romania direct access to the most advanced equipment on the international market. Although ROEL has so far focused on supplying toner-based printing technology, the new showroom also marks the company's move into digital inkjet technology, which is expected to dominate print production volumes in the near future. The first machine already installed in ROEL's Târgoviște showroom is the new Ricoh Pro™ V20100 continuous-feed black-and-white printer, ideal for book and booklet printing applications (150 m/min - 600 x 600 dpi). This is just the first machine from this innovative range, to be followed by the Ricoh Pro™ VC60000, VC70000, colour printers with resolutions of up to 1200 dpi. The V20100 has one of the smallest footprints on the market and is especially recommended for print service providers with high workloads, from a minimum of 10 million to a maximum of 20 million A4 pages per month, as the machine is designed to run non-stop.

Finishing of the printed materials is handled on a separate near-line system, made possible by the synergy between the printer and the winder/unwinder and cutter equipment (the Cutter c20 rotary cutter) from Tecnau – a multinational company with a complete portfolio of products for paper handling, monitoring, processing and finishing for the digital printing industry. British manufacturer Ibis contributes the Smart Binder to this line (wire stitching, cold-glue booklet binding and three-knife trimming). The synergy between Ricoh, Tecnau and Ibis equipment allows ROEL to take on Ricoh's entire continuous-feed portfolio and represent it in full in Romania. All near-line equipment is controlled and connected through Ricoh ProcessDirector, a flexible automated production software solution that loads jobs into workflows automatically; it can also set and change priorities and generate reports. Ricoh's software brings together the three production stages – continuous feed, roll-to-roll and roll-to-cut – making it a leading solution for automated end-to-end workflow management across the production process, as well as for cutting costs, eliminating errors, increasing productivity, and improving efficiency and profitability. As a result, printing 15 million A4 pages a month requires just two operators per shift: one loads the rolls and the other collects the finished booklets.

ROEL understands that these world-class, state-of-the-art printers – which come with substantial upfront costs – cannot be shown and tested to their true value through brochures, online searches or presentation videos. The company is entering the digital inkjet technology market to give its customers easier access to the advantages this technology guarantees, including outstanding print speed, lower running costs and a wide variety of compatible paper types. Today, Ricoh printers – such as the new VC70000 – can even print on glossy paper thanks to a special extended-gamut ink formula and an innovative drying system, eliminating the media pre-treatment stage. Inkjet printing systems are also very flexible and require less labour. All these advantages show that ink-based printing complements toner-based technology, with the latter still holding the edge, particularly for runs on special, textured or through-dyed coloured papers. ROEL chooses to keep pace with the latest industry trends to help its customers more easily seize new opportunities in long runs, book and booklet printing and print-on-demand – a segment that is gaining ground in international markets but is still in its early stages in Romania.
ROEL thus becomes the first company to bring roll-fed inkjet printing equipment to the Romanian market, supplied together with full service, maintenance and training. ROEL's specialists were trained by the manufacturers' own teams at Ricoh, Tecnau and Ibis – in their international training centres – to specialise in configuring the printer and connecting it to all the finishing equipment, maintaining it, and training their customers' operators. All of this comes under a flexible maintenance contract on a monthly subscription basis, with a fixed fee regardless of the printer's workload. The subscription can include equipment maintenance, print head replacement, software updates and various configuration settings that normally go beyond the operator's tasks.
ROEL constantly invests in training its own team of service engineers, who attend courses at the equipment manufacturers' sites so they can then provide customers in Romania with all the information they need. Ricoh continually updates the equipment with new options in line with the latest market demands. ROEL always keeps equipment, parts and consumables in stock.
ROEL invites everyone interested in the latest Ricoh, Tecnau and Ibis equipment to visit the showroom in Târgoviște, which will soon also host a colour model from Ricoh's continuous-feed printer range, as well as other state-of-the-art technological innovations.
ROEL stands by its commitment to consistent quality in the products and services it provides, complies with international standards and takes pride in the certifications it has achieved, building lasting partnerships with its customers.
